Due
to the message and content of this film, follow-up discussions
were held in Belfast inviting people to give their views
on the film and topics it touched on, plus the chance to
talk with Catto and Bridgeman.
As well as the film screenings and discussion events the
highlight was the arrival of Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman
in Belfast, bringing the music from the film to the stage
with a collective of musicians who contributed to the soundtrack;
fusing all genres of music into a world live mix.

Event
organisers, 'Beyond Skin' and friends within the music scene,
knew the potential was there for Belfast to have their own
Giant Leap themed project. We met with Belfast City Council
and others that had been involved through 1 Giant Leap Belfast
event , to discuss the idea. From a meeting with the Ossia
Music School, in September 04, the concept of
the project 'Motion' began to take shape. Inspired from
a quote, from Duncan Bridgeman on the making of 1 Giant
Leap a difference would be focusing on local unknown talent.
"Before we left on our six month journey around
the world, we did a little list of all our heroes and favourite
people we wanted to work with … but what we completely underestimated
was how great all the people who aren't famous are"
Three
months later, December 04, after many meetings mostly with
connections through those who played a part in 1 Giant Leap
Belfast, a project proposal was finalised. We were off again…
"The 'Motion' project invites unsigned musicians
from all communities, religious and cultural backgrounds,
in Belfast, to contribute and combine their musical ideas
in a studio setting to form compositions of music on one
CD"
The
project was funded by Belfast City Council, Community Relations
Council, Enkalon Foundation, Fujitsu, Arts & Business
and Whitenoise.

The Motion Project developed into a touring program and
countless groups, schools and clubs have benefited from
the program which now works province wide.
