the
'motion' project
during
the period of July to December 2005 invited unsigned musicians
from all communities, religious and ethnic backgrounds,
in Belfast, to contribute and combine their musical ideas
in a studio setting to form compositions of music on a CD.
46 musicians representing 11 countries all of whom where
living in Northern Ireland took part.
Belfast
has produced great music over the past decade through bands
and solo artists, but what is the real soundtrack to highlight
the story of this changing city? 'Motion' was a simple idea
that sought to find the music of the people and to encapsulate
on disk for all to hear. Through the writing and recording
of the CD and the musical outcome itself, the 'Motion' project
set out to address sectarianism, racism and other prejudices,
by revealing how our individuality can produce something
far more attractive and unique when we work together.
